Objectives:
1) Discuss how speeches played a role in WW1 propaganda.
2) Discover what the main persuasive speech devices are through researching famous speeches then create a list of top persuasive devices you should use in your own speech.
3) Create a plan for your own persuasive speech.

MAIN PART 1:
Watch these famous inspirational speeches and discuss what they all have in common then create a spider diagram of common conventions of powerful speeches.

TASK: List the main persuasive devices you should use in your own speech.
MAIN PART 2:
In pairs/threes; read the speeches then highlight and annotate where persuasive devices are used in the WW1 Speeches.
PLENARY:
Plan your own persuasive speech, for a Y7 audience, on the motion:
'The events of WW1 were so awful, they should be viewed as a warning to future generations to avoid war'
(24 marks for content + 16 SPAG = 40 marks)
